Google filters out websites that are not mobile-friendly from search results – how to check your site

click to go and check your website

Google has started rolling out filtering for Google searches from mobile devices. If you site doesn’t meet the criteria for mobile-friendly, your site won’t show up in the search results no matter how relevant your page is to the search.

As more folks are visiting websites using smartphones and tablets it becomes increasingly important for you to make sure your website will provide a good viewing experience for them. Here are Google’s criteria for your website:

  • Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash
  • Uses text that is readable without zooming
  • Sizes content to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom
  • Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped

If you want to check to see if your website passes muster, Google has provided a Webmaster tool to check your site. Go test your site now and find out if your page is mobile-friendly.

  1. I travel a lot. So I often use my smartphone to surf the web. I absolutely appreciate googles move – the new label saves me a lot of time. Since there are tools like snapmobl or duda for getting a smartphone friendly web site with just one click, no one has to bother its mobile visitors anymore with bad mobile user experience. Thanks google!
